بهسمنت bhasmant भस्म S̱. s. m. Ashes.

بيد वेद bed S or veda, s. m. A Veda, or the Ve- das in the aggregate. The original Veda is be- lieved by the Hindūs to have been revealed by Brahmā, and to have been preserved by tra- dition until it was arranged in its present order by a sage, who thence obtained the surname of Vyāsa or Vedavyāsa, that is, compiler of the Vedas. He distributed the Indian scripture into four parts, which are severally entitled ऋग् Rig, यजुष् Yajush̤, साम Sāma, and अथर्व Atharva; and each of them bears the common name of Veda.

ببي babai S̱. s. m. 1. (वर्वरा) The seed of a sweet scented herb (Ocymum pilosum. Roxb.). 2. Name of a bird.

بافته bāfta P part. pass. (of بافتن) 1. Woven. 2. s. m. A kind of cloth. 3. A colour in pigeons. 4. Buttons woven like mohair. P.A. بأفراط ba-ifrāt̤, In abundance.

بهيگنا bhīgnā H or bhīṅgnā, v. n. To be wet. See بهيجنا bhījnā. رات بهيگنا rāt bhīgnā, is applied to the night passing in mirth and musical enter- tainment.

بٿوا baṭūʼā S̱. (r. वट Surround, envelope) s. m. 1. A purse, a small bag (generally used for holding betel-nut, &c.). 2. A brass vessel in which Hindūs dress their food.
