بهيت bhīt S̱. 1. (for भित्ति) s. f. A wall, or breadth of a wall. 2. (for भीत) adj. Fearful.

بازگير bāz-gīr P s. An historian or chronologist.

بهگت bhagat भक्त S̱. s. m. See بهکت bhakt. بهگت کهيلنا bhagat-khelnā, v. n. To act (a play), to imitate, to mimick. بهگت هونا bhagat-honā, v. n. To be initiated as a devotee, to be affi- liated to a religious order. (This is peculiar to the low tribes. The initiation consists in putting a necklace of beads round the neck, and marking a circle on the forehead. After which, the initiated person is bound to refrain from the use of spirituous liquors, flesh, &c.).

بهگو bhaggū H part. act. (from بهاگنا) A deserter, a runaway, a fugitive.

بيس bais S̱. s. m. 1. (for वैश्य) The third of the four Hindū tribes or varns: see برن. 2. Name of a tribe of Rājpūts. (A prince of that tribe formerly reigned at Daunriākherā. His dominions, which extended over a great part of Oude, on the north bank of the Ganges, are still called Bais-wāṛā). 3. (for वयस्) Age.

بندي bandī P s. f. 1. (in compos.) Binding, tying, stopping, shutting, construction, &c. 2. (from بنده) Female slave or servant. بندي خانه bandī-ḵẖāna, A prison, gaol.

برشانا barshānā S̱. (from वर्षा) v. a. To rain.

برهمني brahman-ī S. s. f. See براهمني brāhmaṇ-ī.

بونا baunā वामन S̱. 1. adj. Dwarfish. 2. s. m. A dwarf; the fifth (avatār) incarnation of the deity. See اوتار.

بهوٴي bhoʼī H s. m. 1. A chair-porter, a pālkī- bearer, a bearer. 2. A white cat.
