بدي bad-ī P (from بد) s. f. Badness, wickedness, evil, ill, mischief, injury, misfortune. S. بديا विद्या (r. विद Know) bidyā or vidyā, s.f. Science, knowledge, intellect.

بسن پن bisan-pan S̱. (from व्यसन) s. m. A ha- bit of indulging desire.

بيرق bairaḳ P s. m. Banner, ensign, colours.

باڙه bāṛh S̱. (from باڙهنا) s. f. 1. Increase, pro- motion. 2. A flood.

بنا binā S (विना) adv. Without, except, un- less, not. بن جاني bin-jāne, With- out knowing, unwittingly. بن داني پاني bin dāne pānī, Without eating and drinking. بن ماري شهيدهونا bin māre shahīd honā, or بن تيغ شهيدهونا bin teg̠ẖ shahīd honā, To be slain without a wound (are expressions applied to lovers). بن ماري توبه کرنا bin māre tauba karnā, To fear without a cause.

بيعت baiʼaﻌt A s. f. Homage, fealty. بيعت کرنا baiʼaﻌt karnā, v. a. To become a disciple of some saint.

بياس व्यास byās S or vyāsa, s. m. A celebrated saint and author, the supposed original compiler of the Vedas and Purāṇas; also, the founder of the Vedānta philosophy.

باد bād S s. m. 1. (for वाद r. वद Speak) Accusation, dispute, assertion, affirmation. 2. (for वात) Rheumatism. بادکرنا bād karnā, To argue.
