بکتا baktā S (वक्ता r. वच Speak) 1. s. m. A speaker in general. 2. adj. Eloquent, loqua- cious, talkative.

بادر bādur वातुलि S̱. s. m. A flying fox, a bat.

بهيلي bhelī H s. f. A lump of coarse sugar (or guṛ).

بهنانا bhinnānā H v. n. 1. To have a singing in the ears, to be giddy. 2. To sound (as shot, brass pots, &c.).

بلهاري bali-hārī S̱. s. f. (from बलि) Sacrifice. بلهاري جانا balihārī jānā and بل جانا bal jānā, To be sacrificed.

بـﮩنوي bahnoʼī S̱. (भगिनीपति) s. m. A sis- terʼs husband, a brother-in-law.

برمانا birmānā S̱. (causal of برمنا q. v.) v. a. To stop; to tame, to reduce to obedience, to allure.

بيچنا bechnā S̱. (see بينچنا) v. a. To sell.

بالا bālā P prep. Above, up, aloft. adj. High. s. m. Top, stature. بالابالا bālā bālā, adv. De- ceitfully, fraudulently: secretly. بالابتانا bālā batānā, or بالادينا bālā denā, To balk, to cir- cumvent, to dupe, to put off, to disappoint, to prevaricate. بالادست bālā-dast, adj. Upper- handed, victorious, superiour, more or most pre- cious.

بهاريا भार्य्या bhāryā S s. f. A wife, married wo- man; a musical mode, the wife of a rāg or deity presiding over a musical mode.
