بود būd P (from بودن) s. f. Being, existence.

بانگ bāng P s. f. Voice, crying out, sound; the voice of the muʼaẕẕin calling Muhammadans to prayer; the crowing of a cock. بانگ دينا bāng denā, To call Muhammadans to prayer. بانگ مارنا bāng mārnā, To cry out, to call.

بينڐا bīnḍā H s. m. A roll of paper.

بسم الله bismi-l-lāh A In the name of God, or بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم bismi-l-lāhi-r-rahmāni-r-raḥīm, In the name of God the most merciful. (An invocation generally used by Muhammadans at the beginning of all actions and works). بسم الله کرنا bismi-l-lāh karnā, To begin, to com- mence. بسم الله هوا bismi-l-lāh hūʼā, Said of a child who has just commenced learning to read. بن پڙنا ban-paṛnā H v. n. To succeed, to answer, to suit, to come to pass.

بندهانا bandhānā S̱. (caus. of بندهنا) v. a. To bind, fasten, shut, &c.

بٿوا baṭūʼā S̱. (r. वट Surround, envelope) s. m. 1. A purse, a small bag (generally used for holding betel-nut, &c.). 2. A brass vessel in which Hindūs dress their food.

بـﮩبودي bih-būd-ī P s. f. Health, vigour, well being, welfare.

بوجهـ būjh S̱. (बोध or बुद्धि) s. f. Understanding, comprehension, thought.

بچن bachan S (वचन r. वच Speak) s. m. Speech, talk, discourse, word, expression; pro- mise, agreement. بچن بندکرلينا bachan band- kar lenā or بچن بنده کرنا bachan bandh karnā, To bind by promise. بچن بنده هونا bachan bandh honā, To give oneʼs word, to promise, to be agreed upon. بچن پالنا bachan pālnā, To abide by a promise. بچن توڙنا bachan toṛnā, To break oneʼs word. بچن چهوڙنا bachan chhoṛnā, To break oneʼs promise. بچن دينا bachan denā, To promise, to agree. بچن ڐالنا bachan ḍālnā, To question, to ask, to inquire. بچن لينا bachan lenā, To receive a promise. بچن مارنا bachan mārnā, To conclude an agreement. بچن ماننا bachan mānnā, To obey. بچن نبهانا bachan ni- bhānā, To abide by a promise. بچن هارنا bachan hārnā, To promise, to agree, to give or pledge or plight oneʼs word, to affirm.
