همتاٴي hamtā-ī P s. f. Likeness, equality. A. H. همتوالا himmat-wālā, adj. High-minded, li- beral, brave. A. P. همتي himmat-ī, adj. Bold, daring.

هوک hūk H s. f. Pain, stitch, ache, shooting pain, twitch. هوک هوک کررونا hūk hūk kar ronā, To weep with sobbing, or with repeated burstings forth.

هنڐي hanḍī S (for हंडी or हंडिका) s. f. A small earthen pot (for boiling meat, &c.).

هيمنت हेमंत hemant S s. f. A name of the fifth season of the year, comprising the two months Aghan and Pūs, or about November-December; winter.

هتهيانا hath-iyānā S̱. (from هاتهہ) v. a. To seize.

هما hummā H s. m. The sudden influx of the tide at new and full moon, commonly called the bān. (Beng.).

هيہات haihāt A (from هيه) interj. Alas! alacka- day! begone! bewailing, lamentation.

هارا hārā H (in compos.) denotes the performer of any act, dealer in any article. It is often represented in English by the word man, or the termination er; as لکڙهارا lakaṛ-hārā, A wood- man. مارني هارا mārne-hārā, A striker.

هرمز hurmuz A n. prop. 1. The isle of Ormuz in the Persian gulf. 2. Name of a king of Persia who reigned A. D. 272.

هست हस्त hast S s. m. 1. The hand. 2. A cubit.
