واڙي वाटी wāṛī S (An enclosed piece of ground, a garden, &c.) A termination in compos. denoting place or en- closure; as, ستيواڙ satī-wāṛ, The place where a ستي satī is burned; پهولواڙي phūl-wāṛī, A flower- garden.

والي wālī H fem. of والا wālā, q. v.

وطي wat̤ī A (from وطأ) s. f. 1. Subigere mulierem, coition. 2. Kicking, treading under foot.

وارنا wārnā H v. a. 1. To surround, to encircle, to go round. 2. To offer (in sacrifice, &c.). واري پهيري هونا wārī pherī honā, To go round any body (as a sign of being an offering or sa- crifice for his welfare), to devote oneʼs self for any one. (A practice chiefly of women).

وحشي waḥsh-ī A adj. Wild, savage, ferocious; s. A wild beast, a brute, a savage.

وزان wazzān A (from وزن) s. A great weigher, a great composer of verses.

ودراٿ wadarāṭ H s. f. (dakh.) Babble (Harris).

ورد ward A s. m. 1. A rose, a flower. 2. The leaf of a flower, a petal. ¶ wird, s. m. 1. Access, approach. 2. Daily use, practice, task; a portion of the ḳurʼān fixed for reading at a certain time. 3. Continual motion or employ- ment. 4. A halting place, stage. ورد کرنا wird karnā, To repeat.

ورا warā A adv. Behind, beyond, besides.

وقيه wuḳīya A or wuḳaiya, s. A weight of seven mis̤ḳāl, an ounce.
