وافر wāfir A (part. act. of وفر) adj. Abundant, plentiful, copious, much, many, opulent, ample.

وديعت wadīʼaﻌt A (from ودع) s. f. Deposit, trust. وديعت حيات wadīʼaﻌt-i-ḥayāt, Death, depositing oneʼs life.

وايو वायु vāyu S s. m. Air, wind, or its perso- nified deification.

وجه wajh A s. f. 1. Cause, reason. 2. Mode, manner, way. 3. Face, visage, appearance, semblance. 4. (in Pers. and Hind.) Wages, salary, money. وجه تسميه wajh-i-tasmiya, The cause of giving any particular name, the ety- mology of words. وجه حال wajh-i-ḥāl, Mode of living, state of circumstances.

وارنا wārnā H v. a. 1. To surround, to encircle, to go round. 2. To offer (in sacrifice, &c.). واري پهيري هونا wārī pherī honā, To go round any body (as a sign of being an offering or sa- crifice for his welfare), to devote oneʼs self for any one. (A practice chiefly of women).

وارد wārid A part. act. (of ورد Heb. and Aram. ) 1. Coming, arriving, approaching. 2. adj. Being present. Plur. واردات wāridāt, s. f. Events, accidents, incident, occurrence, ca- sualty. وارد وصادر wārid-o-ṣādir, or wārid ṣā- dir, 1. A guest, a traveller. 2. Comer and goer. وارد هونا wārid honā, To arrive, to come.
