نقاوت naḳāwat A (from نقي Heb. and Chald. ) s. f. Purity, cleanness.

نصاريٰ naṣārạ̄ A (Heb. from Nazareth, the name of a city, so called from its abounding in orchards, from a twig or branch) s. m. A Nazarene, a christian.

نيلوفر nīlofar P s. m. The lotus nilufer, water- lily, nenuphar. (Nymphæa lotus).

نکٿا nakṭā H s. m. The name of a bird. S̱. H. نک چڙها nak-chaṛhā, adj. Angry, fretful, ill-tempered, warm, passionate, fastidious.

نفاس nafās A prop. nifās (from نفس) s. m. 1. Childbirth, labour, bringing forth. 2. The forty days of a woman after childbirth.

نہرانا nihurānā H or نہڙانا nihuṛānā (causal of نہرنا, &c.) v. a. To cause to crook, to bend, to bow.

نرمه گوش narma-i-gosh P s. The lobe of the ear.

نمود namūd P (from نمودن) s. f. Index, guide, show, display, appearance; honour, character, celebrity. adj. Apparent, publick, shown, ex- hibited, famous, prominent, conspicuous. نمود هونا namūd honā, To be conspicuous or eminent, to shine, to appear. نمود کرنا namūd karnā, To exhibit, display, expose, shew.

نشاٴيت nashā-īyat A. s. f. Quality of intoxicating.

نوش nosh P 1. part. act. (from نوشيدن) in compos. A drinker; as, باده نوش bāda-nosh, A wine-drinker. 2. s. m. A drink, a draught (especially, of something sweet and pleasant). 3. A present. 4. A reward. 5. An antidote. نوش جان فرمانا nosh-i-jān farmānā or نوش فرمانا nosh farmānā or نوش جان کرنا nosh-i-jān karnā, To eat, to drink (applied to a king or nobleman). نوش کرنا nosh karnā, To drink, to eat, to devour, to swallow, to sup, to sip.
