نواب nuwwāb A s. plur. (of نايب from نوب Heb. and Aram. ) Vicegerents, lieutenants, de- puties, governours. ¶ nawwāb (adj. superl.) A nabob, a governour of a town or district.

نسيه nisya A or nasya (from نسي Heb. ) s. m. A thing forgotten, of no regard or account. ¶ nasia (from نسأ) s. m. Delay allowed for pay- ment of money, credit.

ناظم nāz̤im A (part. act. of نظم) s. m. 1. A com- poser, arranger, adjuster. 2. A poet, composer of verses. 3. A governour, a ruler. (Pers. plur. ناظمان).

نصراني naṣrānī A s. m. A christian. See نصاريٰ.

نچويا nachwaiyā S̱. (from ناچ) s. m. A dancer.

ننگ nang P s. m. 1. Honour, reputation, es- teem. 2. (on the contrary) Disgrace, infamy. ننگ وناموس nang-o-nāmūs, Honour, shame, disgrace.

نوبت naubat A (from نوب Heb. and Aram. ) s. f. 1. A period, time, turn; access (of fever, &c.) fit. 2. Relieving guard, keeping watch. 3. An accident. 4. Opportunity, occasion, vi- cissitude, degree, pitch, weight. 5. Instruments of musick sounding at the gate of a great man at certain intervals. نوبت جهڙنا naubat jhaṛ- nā, v. n. To be sounded the naubat. نوبت خانه naubat-ḵẖāna, A guard-house. A. P. نوبتي naubat-ī, s. m. He who beats the نوبت naubat (as explained at signif. 5. above).

نيستي nest-ī P s. f. Nonexistence, nullity, an- nihilation.

نين nain S̱. or nayan (नयन) s. m. The eye. نين سکهہ nain-sukh, s. m. Name of a flower.
