نيشتر neshtar P s. m. A lancet.

نفقه nafaḳa A s. m. The necessary expenses for living.

نقط nuḳat̤ A s. plur. (of نقطه) Drops, spots: يک نقط yak nuḳt̤, however, occurs for one drop.

نوروز nau roz P s. m. New yearʼs day according to the Persian calendar; being that on which the sun enters Aries. This is called عامه or general: and, the sixth of the same month is called خاصه or particular. Both are celebrated by feasts, the liberation of prisoners, &c.

نکال nakāl A (from نکل Heb. and Aram. ) s. m. An exemplary punishment, a preventive, restraint.

نسر nasr A (Heb. ) s. m. A vulture. نسرالطاير nasru-t̤-t̤āʼịr or نسرطاٴير nasr-i-t̤āʼịr (The flying vulture) The constellation of the eagle. نسرالواقع nasru-l-wāḳiﻌ (The falling vulture) The constel- lation of the lyre.

نجم najm A s. m. 1. A star, a planet. 2. For- tune. 3. A horoscope, calculation of nativity. Plur. نجوم nujūm, Stars. علم نجوم iﻌlm-i-nujūm, Astrology, astronomy.

ناخداٴي nāḵẖudā-ī P s. f. Office of master, &c. of a ship, navigation.

نيندي nīnd-ī S̱. adj. (dakh.) Sleepy, drowsy (Harris): see ننداسا nindās-ā.

نکهـ नख nakh S s. m. A finger or toe nail. نکهـ سکهـ nakh sikh or نکهـ سکهـ سي nakh sikh se, or نکهـ سي سکهـ تلک nakh se sikh talak, From top to toe, entirely, throughout, (lit.) from the (toe) nails to the hair on the crown of the head.
