نمر namir A or nimr, s. m. A panther, a leopard.

نشانه nishāna P s. m. 1. A mark. 2. A butt, aim. نشانه انداز nishāna-andāz, Unerring.

نعال niʼāﻌl A s. plur. of نعل naﻌl, q. v.

نيلوفر nīlofar P s. m. The lotus nilufer, water- lily, nenuphar. (Nymphæa lotus).

نرقل narḳal S̱. (corrupt. of نرکٿ narkaṭ, q. v.) s. m. A kind of reed of which mats are made.

نوپر नूपुर nūpur S s. f. A ring hollowed, about a finger and a half in breadth, used as an orna- ment for the ankles and toes. (In it are bits of copper or iron, of the size of a vetch, which cause it to sound like a number of small bells, when the wearer walks).

نيکو neko P (in Hind. nīko) adj. Good, beauti- ful, elegant; well. نيکوخدمتي nīko-ḵẖidmat-ī, Goodness of ser- vice. نيکوکار neko-kār, Of good actions, a be- neficent person, benefactor. نيکوکاري neko- kār-ī, s. f. Beneficence, doing good.

نيابت niyābat A (from نوب) s. f. Deputation, vicegerency, lieutenancy, delegation, &c.

نصير naṣīr A (from نصر) s. m. An assistant, a de- fender, a friend.

نصيحت naṣīḥat A (from نصخ Heb. and Aram. ) s. f. Advice, counsel, admonition, precept. نصيحت کرنا يا دينا naṣīhat-karnā, or -denā, To advise, counsel, admonish, exhort; (met.) to reprove, to reprimand, to chastise. نصيحت گر naṣīḥat-gar, or نصيحت گو naṣīḥat-go, An ad- viser, counsellor, admonisher.
