نکس naks A s. m. Inclining downward, inverting, placing topsyturvy.

نايکا नायिका nāyikā S (or nāyakā) s. f. 1. Female of nāyak; a damsel, a lass. 2. The mistress of a house, particularly (now) of a brothel; a bawd.

نسواس निःश्वास ni-swās S s. m. Breath.

نرسنگا nar-singā नलशृंग S̱. s. m. A horn (mu- sical), a wind instrument. S. نرسنگهـ नरसिंह or नृसिंह nar-singh or nr̤i- singh, s. m. The name of the fourth Avatār or incarnation of Vish̤ṇu, which happened in the Satya-yuga, upon the following occasion. Hiranya-kasipu, an impious prince, was en- raged at his son Prahlād for worshipping the Almighty, and tried every means of destroying him, by poison, by throwing him into fire, into the ocean, &c. yet Prahlād lived. "If your God is present every where," says Hiranya- kasipu, "let him come from an alabaster pil- lar;" on which Nar-singha appeared, with the lower part of a man and the upper of a lion,

ناک नाक nāk S s. m. The heavens.

نريٿ nareṭ H s. m. Throat, windpipe. نريٿي دبانا nareṭī dabānā, To throttle.

ناراين नारायण nārāyaṇ S s. m. A name of Vish̤ṇu, but especially considered as the deity who was before all worlds.
