نمک namak P s. m. (dakh. nimak) 1. Salt. 2. (met.) Spirit, animation. 3. Bread, subsist- ence. نمک بند namak-band, adj. Stopped or bound up with salt (a wound). نمکچشي na- mak-chashī, The first feeding of a child about six months of age, which is attended with cer- tain ceremonies. (in dakh.) A ceremony of sending trays of food from the bridegroom to the bride, and the contrary, before marriage. نمک حرام namak-ḥarām, Disloyal, wicked, evil, disobedient, perfidious, traitor, ungrateful. نمک حرامي namak-ḥarām-ī, s. f. Perfidy, trea- son, treachery, disloyalty, ingratitude. نمک حلال namak-ḥalāl, Loyal, submissive, faithful, grateful. نمک حلالي namak-ḥalāl-ī, s. f. Fi- delity, loyalty, gratitude. نمک خوار namak- ḵẖẉār, A servant, dependant. نمکدان namak- dān, A saltcellar. نمکسار namaksār, Saline, a salt-pit. نمک کا کنکره حرام هونا namak kā kankra ḥarām honā (dakh. met. for فاقه رهنا) To continue in a fast or fasting, to keep a fast(?). کٿي پر نمک لگانا kaṭe par namak lagānā (lit. to put salt upon a wound) To add one grief or vexation to another.

نباڙنا nibāṛnā S̱. v. a. 1. (निर्वाहण) To ac- complish, to perform, manage: see نباهنا ni- bāhnā. 2. (निर्व्वाण) To spend, to end. 3. To separate.
