نوروز nau roz P s. m. New yearʼs day according to the Persian calendar; being that on which the sun enters Aries. This is called عامه or general: and, the sixth of the same month is called خاصه or particular. Both are celebrated by feasts, the liberation of prisoners, &c.

ناز naz P s. m. 1. Blandishments, coquetry, play- fulness, gracefulness, elegance, soothing, fond- ling, amorous playfulness, softness. 2. Pride, consequential airs. ناز اٿهاتا nāz uṭhānā, To bear with the airs or whims of another. ناز بردار nāz-bardār, One who bears the whims of another, a flatterer. ناز برداري nāz-bardār-ī, s. f. Flattery. ناز پرور nāz-parwar or ناز پرورده nāz-parwarda, Delicately brought up; a spoiled child. ناز پيشگي nāz-pesha-gī, s. f. The habit of coquetry, &c. ناز پيشه nāz-pesha, One who practises blandishments, a coquette. ناز نخرا nāz-naḵẖrā, s. m. Coquetry, dalliance. نازو نياز nāz-o-niyāz, Blandishment, toying.

نارجيل nārjīl P (Sans. नारिकेल) s. m. 1. A cocoa-nut. 2. The cocoa-nut tree. (Cocos nucifera).

نس nas A. (corrupt. from نسا) s. f. 1. A vein. 2. A sinew.

نويس navīs P part. act. (from نوشتن) in compos. Writing, writer.

نظمي naz̤m-ī A. s. m. 1. A composer, arranger, adjuster. 2. A poet.

نہال nihāl H adj. Exalted, pleased, happy.
