مقلب muḳallib A part. act. (II. of قلب) Turning, turner, converter.

مرزا mirzā P (from امير Chief, and part. pass. of زادن To be born) s. m. 1. A prince. 2. A title of Musalmāns. (Plur. مرزايان). مرزابي پروا mirzā be parwā (dakh.) Three small delicate golden chains, worn as the ṭīkā, fixed to the hair by small hooks, the lower hanging ends being either set or not with precious stones: Qanoon-e-islam, App. p. xviii. مرزا مزاج mirzā- mizāj, adj. Fastidious, nice.

متوکل mutawakkil A (part. act. V. of وکل Heb. and Chald. ) adj. Resigned to the will of God, trusting another, resigned to oneʼs fate.

مقناطيس miḳnāt̤īs G. s. m. The magnet, the load- stone. See مغناطيس mig̠ẖnāt̤īs.

مبادله mubādala A (inf. III. of بدل) s. m. Ex- change, barter, retaliation, recompense.

معکوس maﻌkūs A (part. pass. of عکس) adj. In- verted, reversed, reflex.

مکري mukrī H s. f. A kind of short poem of frequent use in the Braj dialect, the peculia- rities of which are these. It consists of four lines, each composed of four trochees. In the three first the speaker, a female, appears to talk of her lover; but, on the question being put by a friend, applies the whole to some other object. Hence the name from mukarnā, To deny. The following is an example. باٿ چلت مروانچراگہي ميري سني نه اپني کہي ناکچهہ موسون جهگڙا جهانٿا کيون سکهي سجن ناسکهي کانٿا Bāṭ chalat miro anchrā gahe; merī sune na apnī kahe. Nā kachhu mo soṅ jhagṛā jhānṭā; kyūṅ sakhī sajjan? nā sakhī kānṭā. As I went along the road, he seized my robe; neither heard what I said, nor made any reply. In short we had not the smallest dispute. Who, friend, your lover? no, friend, a thorn. A. P. مکري makr-ī, adj. Deceitful.

مزعفر muzaﻌfar A s. m. A kind of dish, a saf- froned pulāʼo.

متبذل mutabaẕẕil A (part. act. V. of بذل) adj. Despicable, not cared for, despised.

ميوه mewa P s. m. Fruit. ميوه دار mewa-dār, Fruitbearing, fruitful. ميوه فروش mewa-farosh, A fruiterer.
