لٿهـ laṭh S̱. (Sans. यष्टि) s. m. A stick, club, cudgel. (See لاٿهـ). لٿهـ بازي laṭh-bāz-ī, s. f. Cudgelling.

لڙکاٴي laṛkā-ī S̱. s. f. Childhood, boyhood, the being of a child or children.

لوح lauḥ A (Heb. ) s. f. A plank, a table, a board (especially, on which any thing is written), a tablet. لوح محفوظ lauḥ-i-maḥfūz̤, The guarded table on which the destinies of mankind are written (according to the Muhammadans). لوح وقلم lauḥ-o-ḳalam, s. f. The tablet and pen on, and with, which the decrees of the deity are written.

لمعه lamʼaﻌ A s. m. 1. Splendour, brilliancy. 2. Shining, glaring. 3. The glare of the sun.

لاوساو lāwsāw S̱. (from लाभ) s. m. Profit, advan- tage.

لالي پڙنا lāle paṛnā S̱. To be extremely desirous and unable fully to express oneʼs wishes. Mīr says:-- اس اسيري کي نه کوٴي اي صبا پالي پڙي ايک نظرگل ديکهني کي بهي همين لالي پڙي Is asīrī ke na koʼī, ai ṣabā! pāle paṛe; yak naz̤ar gul dekhne ke bhī hameṅ lāle paṛe. Oh zephyr! may no one fall into such bonds as these; I long to distraction for one look of the rose.

لمبا lambā लंब S̱. adj. Long, tall. لمبا کرنا lambā karnā, 1. To lengthen, to extend. 2. To beat, to drub.

لوهار loh-ār लोहकार S̱. s. m. A blacksmith.

لقمان luḳmān A n. prop. A famous eastern fa- bulist (supposed to be the same as Ӕsop).

لوهيا lohiyā S̱. (from लोह) adj. Of iron.
