لڐو laḍḍū H s. m. A kind of sweetmeat, made chiefly of sugar, with the addition of cocoa-nut kernel rasped, and cream, and formed into the shape of large boluses or balls. من کي لڐوکهانا man ke laḍḍū khānā, To build castles in the air. ٿهگکي لڐو کها بيٿهنا ṭhag ke laḍḍū khā baiṭhnā, To be distracted, foolish, or intoxicated. (Spo- ken of one who talks or acts absurdly in oppo- sition to his usual good sense. An allusion taken from sharpers who join a party of travel- lers, and having got into their confidence, enter- tain them with sweetmeats impregnated with Datura, or other intoxicating drug; that they may rob them with impunity while under its stupifying influence).
