قاموس ḳāmūs A s. m. 1. The ocean. 2. The name of an Arabic lexicon.

قرابه ḳarāba A (from قربه ḳirba, which from قرب) s. m. A flagon.

ققنس ḳuḳnus P s. m. The phenix, a fabulous bird.

قصبه ḳaṣba A (prop. ḳaṣaba, from قصب) s. m. A small town (particularly, when inhabited by decent people or families of rank).

قلي ḳulī T s. m. A slave, a labourer, porter, a cooley.

قال ḳāl A (Heb. ) s. m. 1. A word, a saying. 2. Loquaciousness. 3. Boasting, egotism. قال مارنا ḳāl mārnā, 1. To be very loquacious. 2. To rebuke, to reproach. قال مقال ḳāl maḳāl, s. m. Altercation, wrangling, confabulation.

قل ḳul A s. m. Reading of the sūra or chapter of the ḳurʼān, entitled ḳul huwa-l-lāh; which is done, by way of benediction, over fruits and sweetmeats presented to the guests, at the conclusion of the religious annual feasts, held in commemoration of ancestors and other relations. Hence, it comes to signify conclusion. قل هو چکا ḳul ho chukā, It is all over. قل هوالله پڙهنا ḳul huwa-l-lāh paṛhnā, To grumble (the bowels), to be hungry. (See under انتڙي).

قرص ḳurṣ A s. m. An orb, a pellet, a ball of paste, the disk (of the sun or moon).

قرق ḳurḳ A s. m. 1. An embargo. 2. Confisca- tion, the act of seizing, attacking, seizure. 3. Enclosure, hinderance, prevention of access.

قرين ḳarīn A adj. Conjoined, contiguous, connected; equal, associate, friend. گردون قرين gar- dūn-ḳarīn, adj. Joined or reaching to the skies. نصرقرين nuṣrat-ḳarīn, adj. Victorious.
