فصيل faṣīl A (vulg. safīl, from فصل) s. f. Breast- work, parapet, intrenchment.

فروخته furoḵẖta P part. pass. (of فروختن) Burnt, kindled, inflamed.

فحوا faḥwā A s. m. Style, contents, signification, sense, drift, tenour, meaning. (Plur. فحاوي faḥāwī). فحواي کلام faḥwā-e-kalām, Significa- tion, sense, scope, meaning, spirit, contents, drift, tenour of the speech or discourse.

فاحشه fāḥisha A (from فحش) s. f. 1. A harlot. 2. Any thing abominable.

فور faur A s. m. Celerity, haste. في الفور fi-l-faur, adv. Immediately, instantly.

فحاش faḥḥāsh A adj. (superl. of فحش) Obscene, talking indecently.

فرض farẓ A s. m. f. Divine command, a duty the omission of which is considered as a mortal sin, an obligation. فرض کرنا farẓ karnā, To consider as a positive indispensable duty, to consider as certain or unquestionable, to grant, admit, assume. فرض هونا farẓ honā, To be in- cumbent, to behoove.

فانوس fānūs P s. f. A shade (to keep the wind from a candle), a lantern, a pharos, lighthouse. فانوس خيال fānūs-i-ḵẖiyāl, or فانوس خيالي fā- nūs-i-ḵẖiyāl-ī, A lantern which revolves by the smoke of the candle within, and has on the sides of it figures of various animals.

فرش farsh A (Heb. To spread) s. m. 1. Spreading. 2. Carpetting, bedding, a cushion, mat, carpet, pavement, any thing spread. فرش کرنا farsh karnā, To spread, pave. فرش هونا farsh honā, To be spread. ¶ furush, s. plur. (of فراش firāsh) Beds, carpets.

فرج faraj A s. f. Cheerfulness, delight, pleasure, joy. ¶ farj, s. f. Pudendum tum maris tum feminæ.
