عالي āﻌlī A (part. act. of علو) adj. High, sublime, eminent, grand. (Fem. عاليه āﻌliya). عالي تبار āﻌlī-tabār, adj. Of high descent. عالي جاه āﻌlī- jāh, or عاليشان āﻌlī-shān, adj. Of high rank, magnificent. عالي جاهي āﻌlī-jāh-ī, s. f. Highness of rank or dignity. عالي فطرت āﻌlī-fit̤rat, adj. High-minded. عالي قدر āﻌlī-ḳadr, adj. Worthy, of high rank. عالي مرتبه āﻌlī-martaba, adj. High in rank or dignity. عاليمقام āﻌlī-maḳām, adj. Of high rank. عالي مقدار āﻌlī-miḳdār, adj. Ex- alted, high in dignity. عالي منش āﻌlī-manish, or عالي همت āﻌlī-himmat, High-minded, ambi- tious. عالي منشي āﻌlī-manish-ī, s. f. Magna- nimity. عالي همتي āﻌlī-himmat-ī, s. f. High- mindedness, ambition.

عشا iﻌshā A s. m. 1. The first watch of the night.

عا جز āﻌjiz A (part. act. of عجز ) adj. Unable, weak, humble, exhausted, dejected, hopeless. A.P. عاجزانه āﻌjiz-āna, adv. Weakly, humbly.

عاصم āﻌṣim A (part. act. of عصم) adj. Virtuous, chaste, protected, safe. ابو عاصم abū āﻌṣim (fa- ther of the safe or defended) i. e. Barley broth.

عاروس āﻌros A. s. f. (dakh.) Bride. See عروس aﻌrūs.

عنين iﻌnen A. s. (dakh.) Reins of a bridle: see عنان iﻌnān.

عناب uﻌnnāb A s. m. The jujub fruit.

عمل aﻌmal A (Heb. ) s. m. Action, act, opera- tion, work, practice, effect, rule, sway, jurisdic- tion. عملدار aﻌmal-dār, s. m. 1. One who has command. 2. A collector. عمل داري aﻌmal dār-ī, s. f. Collectorship, government. عمل کرنا aﻌmal-karnā, To act, operate, proceed.

عبا aﻌbā A or iﻌbā, s. plur. Garments said to be generally black and made of goatʼs hair.

عظميٰ uﻌz̤mạ̄ A adj. f. (of اعظم) Greatest.
