عنقريب aﻌn-ḳarīb A (عن prepos. and قريب Near) adv. Near, soon, shortly, nearly, almost.

عالم āﻌlam A (Heb. ) s. m. The world, the universe, time, regions, state, beauty. عالم آرا āﻌlam-ārā, World-adorning. عالم بالا يا علوي āﻌlam-i-bālā or -uﻌlvī, The heavens, the people of the heavens. عالم تاب āﻌlam-tāb, World-illumi- nating or world-warming. عالم سفلي āﻌlam-i-suflī, The earth. عالم گير āﻌlam-gīr, Conquering the world. عنديه iﻌndiya A. (from Arab. عندي With me) s. m. Opinion, oneʼs own opinion.

عاقبت āﻌkibat A (from عقب Heb. ) s. f. 1. The end, conclusion, futurity, future state. 2 Success. 3. adv. Finally, at the end, at last, after all. عاقبت انديش āﻌḳibat-andesh, Pro- vident, prescient, considerate, discreet, looking into futurity. عاقبت اند يشي āﻌḳibat-andesh-ī, s. f. Foresight, regard to the issue, end, conse- quence or future.

عرفان iﻌrfān A s. m. Knowledge, discernment, science.

عفو aﻌfū A s. m. Absolution, forgiveness, pardon. عفو کرنا aﻌfū karnā, To pardon. عفو هونا aﻌfū honā, To be pardoned.

عاشورا āﻌshūrā A (from عشر Heb. ) s. m. The first ten days of the Muḥarram.

عبور uﻌbūr A (from عبر) s. m. Passing, crossing (a river), passing over, a ford, or pass.

عاذر āﻌẕir A part. act. (of عذر) 1. Making ex- cuses. 2. s. m. An apologist. 3. The scar of a wound.

عنقبوت aﻌnḳabūt A (Heb. comp. of عکب To do or make quickly, and عکش To weave a spiderʼs web: Schult.) s. f. A spider.
