شعبه shuʼba A s. m. The cleft or crack of a moun- tain in which water stands, a channel in which water flows especially through the sand.

Distress, affliction. شکسته رنگ shikasta-rang, adj. Altered in colour (from affliction). شکسته رنگي shikasta-rang-ī, s. f. Altered colour (from affliction). شکسته وعده shikasta-waﻌda (Broken engagements) adj. Faithless.

شبديگ shab-deg P s. f. A dish composed of meat and turnips dressed all night on the fire.

شکرين shakar-īn P adj. Sugary, of sugar.

شجع shajaﻌ A s. m. Valour, bravery.

شفيق shafīḳ A (from شفق) adj. 1. Merciful, compassionate. 2. Affectionate, kind; friend.

شہرخا shah-ruḵẖ-ā P s. m. A term used at chess.

شوال shauwāl A s. m. The tenth month of the Muhammadan year; on the first day of which the festival of Bairām, or īﻌd is celebrated, being the first day after the musalmān Lent; and, on this day it is customary to make presents, &c.

شغل shug̠ẖl A s. m. Occupation, employment.
