شام shām P 1. s. f. Evening. 2. (a) s. m. Sy- ria. شام کي مرديکوکب تک روٴيي shām ke murde ko kab tak roʼiye, is applied to express a circumstance which is likely to be a subject of regret for life. (The expression is taken from the custom, among the relations of a dead per- son, of venting loud lamentations while the corpse remains in the house. If the death hap- pens in the morning, the body is soon removed; but, if towards evening, it remains till next morning; in which case the mourners are apt to be overtaken by sleep).

ششدر shash dar P (شش Six) s. m. 1. A cube, a die. 2. adj. Astonished, confounded, ashamed. H.S̱. ششکارنا shushkārnā, v. n. To encourage or stimulate a dog to the chase, by the sound shush. H.S̱. ششکاري shushkārī, s. f. Impelling a dog to the chase.
