شحنه shaḥna A (or shiḥna, from شحن To drive away, to propel) s. m. 1. A viceroy, lieutenant, representative, superintendent of police. 2. A peon, or servant of a tax-gatherer.

شہامت shahāmat A s. f. Generosity, bravery.

شڐش षडश sh̤aḍash S adj. Sixteenth.

شد بود shud būd P adv. So so.

شق shaḳḳ A (Heb. To run about) s. m. 1. Trouble, labour, suspense. 2. Dawn of day. 3. A fissure, crack, rent, cleft. شق القمر shaḳḳu-l-ḳamar, Splitting of the moon. شق هونا shaḳḳ honā, To be torn, to be split, rent, &c. ¶ shiḳḳ, s. f. The half of a thing, the side of a mountain, a brother, a friend, difficulty.

شگني shugun-ī P s. m. See شگونيا shugūn-iyā.

شاديانه shādiyāna P adj. Relating to marriage or rejoicings; s. m. Musick and singing at marriages or on other festive occasions. شاديانه بجانا shādiyāna bajānā, To triumph.

شلک shalak A. or shallak, s. f. For شلق shalḳ, q. v.

شکيباٴي shikebā-ī P s. f. Patience, exerting pa- tience, toleration, long suffering.
