سارا sārā P adj. Pure, excellent, sweet-smelling, undefiled; as, عنبرسارا aﻌmbar-i-sārā, The most odoriferous ambergris. S. سارارتهہ सारार्थ (comp. of सार Pith, essence, and अर्थ Meaning) sārārth, s. m. Abridgment.

سکهد सुखद सुख Ease, and part. act. of r. दा Give sukhad S. adj. Salubrious, pleasant. S. سکهداس (comp. of सुख and दास) sukhdās, s. m. A kind of rice.

سعبان shaﻌbān A (from شعب) s. m. The eighth Arabian month. (The 14th day of it is the festival called برات barāt, q. v.: on this day, an angel is supposed to examine a record, on which is written the names of the living).

سنجمي sanjam-ī S (संयमी) adj. Sober, tem- perate, abstemious.

سوکنا sūknā S̱. (शोषण r. शुष Grow dry) v. n. To dry, to become dry.

سري sarī शर S̱. s. f. 1. The shaft of an arrow. 2. A reed of which arrows are made.

سمبهلنا sambhalnā S̱. (intrans. of سمبهالنا sambhāl- nā, q. v.) v. n. To be supported, to stand, stop, to be firm, to recover oneʼs self from a fall, &c.

ستيا sattyā सत्त्व S̱. s. m. (dakh.) Power, strength: see ست sat, sign. 3.

سنکهاهلي sankhāhulī शंखपुष्पी S̱. s. f. Name of a medicinal plant. (Andropogon aciculatum?).
