احرام iḥrām A (inf. iv. of حرم) s. m. Act of for- bidding or interdicting, putting on the pilgrimʼs habit at a certain distance from Mecca, determi- nation or resolution. (At a certain distance from Mecca, the pilgrims interdict themselves all worldly enjoyments, &c. There their reso- lution is fixed to complete the pilgrimage; and, hence, the word means the determination then formed). جامۀ احرام jāma-i-iḥrām, The gar- ment worn by pilgrims on entering Mecca.
