سبها सभा sabhā S s. f. An assembly, meeting, company.

سدابرت sadā-bart सदाव्रत S̱. s. m. Alms, or food distributed daily to the poor, travellers, &c.

سماعي samāʼīﻌ A (from سماع) adj. 1. What has been heard, traditional. 2. (in grammar) Ir- regular.

ساکا sākā शाक S̱. s. m. An era. ساکاکرنا sākā karnā, To establish an era; (met.) To dis- tinguish oneʼs self by heroick actions. ساکي بندهہ sāke-bandh, s. m. A king who has esta- blished an era.

سواد sawād S or swād (स्वाद) s. m. Relish, flavour, taste, sweetness; pleasure.

ستان sitān P part. act. (from ستاندن) used in compos. Taking, seizing, captivating. ¶ stān, or istān (affixed to certain words, denotes) Place, station; as, هندوستان hindū-stān, India; بوستان bo-stān (place of fragrance) Flower- garden.

سرا sarā शराव S̱. s. m. An earthen cover of a pot.

سرنا sarnā S̱. (शरण) s. f. An asylum, shel- ter, protection.

سنگاتي sang-ātī S̱. s. (dakh.) Companion, associate.
