سرپهٿور sir-phaṭauwar S̱. s. f. 1. Wrangling. 2. Affectation of civility with internal hatred.

سرت surat S̱. or surt (स्मृति) s. f. Recollection, consideration, reflection, memory, attention, cau- tion, accuracy. S. سرت शरत् or शरद् sarat or sarad, s. f. The fourth of the six seasons, comprising Āsin and Kārtik, the sultry season.

سرا sarā A or sarāh, s. m. A tree from which bows are made.

سين sain S̱. 1. (संज्ञा) s. f. A wink, sign, token, hint, a signal. سين کرنا sain karnā, To beckon. 2. or sainya (सैन्य) s. f. An army, forces. 3. (for शयन) s. m. Sleeping, repose.

سرعت surʼaﻌt A s. f. Haste.

سرامد sar-āmad P (from سر Head, and آمدن To come; q. d. arrived at the summit) adj. Per- fect, complete, accomplished. 2. Master of any art, &c. 3. Chief.

سماحت samāḥat A (from سمح) s. f. Beneficence, liberality.

سوبهنا sobhnā शोभन S̱. v. n. To become, to befit.

سان sān P adj. Like. s. 1. Likeness. 2. Mus- ter, review (of an army). سان کرنا sān karnā, To make muster. سان گمان sān gumān, s. m. Understanding and imagination (سان being for شان). P. S. سان sān (Sans. शाण r. शान or शो Sharpen) s. f. A whetstone, a grindstone. H. S̱. سان بجهانا sān bujhānā, v. a. To make one understand by hints.

سہاگ suhāg सौभाग्य S̱. s. m. 1. Auspiciousness, good fortune. 2. The affection of a hus- band. سہاگ پٿارا يا پڙا suhāg-piṭārā, or -puṛā, s. m. A casket of jewels presented by the bride- groom to his bride. سہاگ لہر suhāg-lahar, s. f. A cool refreshing breeze.
