ستاره sitāra P s. m. 1. A star. 2. A kind of firework. 3. Name of a musical instrument with three strings. (Pers. plur. ستارگان). ستاره پيشاني sitāra-peshānī, adj. Having a star in the forehead (reckoned a fault in a horse). ستاره شماري sitāra-shumār-ī, s. f. Counting of the stars. ستاره شناش sitāra-shinās, s. m. An astrologer, astronomer.

سوهنا sohnā S̱. 1. v. n. (शोभन) To become, to beseem. 2. v. a. (शोधन) To weed.

سنک sinak H s. m. Blowing the nose, snot.

سيونا sewnā सेवन S̱. v. a. 1. To attend on, to serve. 2. To brood, to rear, to sit, to incubate, to hatch.

سا sā P. S̱. 1. adj. (Pers. سان or Sans. समान or सदृश) Like, resembling (most commonly by way of adjunct like the English) ish; so کالاسا kālā-sā, Blackish. 2. (for s. शः) An adjunct the meaning of which is at times scarcely perceptible, though often it seems to give intensity to the preceding word; as بـہت سا bahut-sā, Much, many, very much. 3. (or ساي) part. in compos. (from سودن or ساييدن) Rubbing, wearing, polishing, anointing, drawing.
