سئيس sa-īs A. (improp. for سائيس sāʼīs, q. v.) s. m. A groom, a horse-keeper.

سوريه सूर्य्य sūrya S s. m. The sun. सूर्य्यग्रहण sūrya-grahaṇ, s. m. Eclipse of the sun. سوريبنسي sūrya-bansī (सूर्य्यवंशी) s. m. 1. Descendant of the sun. 2. Name of a tribe of Ksh̤atriyas who claim descent from the sun. سوريودي सूर्योदय sūryodaya, s. m. Sunrise.

سٿا بٿا saṭṭā baṭṭā H s. m. An amour, combina- tion, collusion. (Perhaps from s. सन्नद्ध and बद्ध).

سٿکنا suṭuknā H v. a. To swallow by gulps and with a noise.

سيت set S̱. 1. (श्वेत) adj. White. سيتديپ set-dīp (श्वेतद्वीप) The white island or a minor division of the universe so called, and supposed by Wilford to be Britain. 2. (for सेतु) s. m. A bridge.

سموسه samosa P. (corrupt. for سنبوسه) s. m. 1. A kind of small pastry of minced meat of a triangular form. 2. A shawl, or handkerchief, &c. doubled diagonally to throw over the shoul- ders. سموسه ورقي samosa-waraḳī, A species of the dish named سموسه.

سرک sarak H s. f. m. (dakh.) Noose, snare.

سيٿهنا sīṭhnā H s. m. Abusive songs sung by women at weddings.

سکيلا sakelā H s. m. A kind of iron.
