زمانه zamāna A (Heb. from زمن Heb. To define, to determine, to appoint) s. m. 1. Time, an age. 2. The world. 3. Fortune. 4. The heavens. 5. Tense. (Plur. ازمنه). زمانه ساز zamāna-sāz, Turncoat, time- server, temporizer. زمانه سازي zamāna-sāz-ī, Turning with the tide, timeserving, yielding to fortune. زمانه سازي کرنا zamāna-sāz-ī karnā, To turn with the tide, to temporize. زمانه موافق zamāna-muwāfiḳ, Fortunate.

زمـہريري zamharīr-ī A adj. Intensely cold.

زکاة zakāt A (from زکا) s. f. Alms, a portion of a Musalmānʼs property given in charity agreeably to the rules laid down in the ḳurʼān.

زنخ zanaḵẖ P s. m. The chin, the pit in the chin.

زرنيخ zarnīḵẖ P (or زرنه zarna or زرني zarnī) s. m. Arsenick, orpiment. (Perhaps inverted from arsenikon).

زاج zāj A s. m. Copperas, vitriol. زاج سفيد zāj-i-sufaid, s. m. Alum.

زليخا zalīḵẖa P or zulaiḵẖā, n. prop. The name of Potipharʼs wife.

زلل zalal A s. m. 1. Erring, blundering. 2. Stumbling, falling. 3. Deficiency, loss.

زربفت zar-baft P. (زر Gold, and بفت from بافتن To weave) s. m. Brocade, cloth of gold.

زده zada P (from زدن) part. pass. Struck, stricken, beaten, smitten; affected, oppressed.
