زندان zindān P s. m. A prison.

زک zak A. or zik (from زکّ To totter in walking from weakness) s. f. Injuring, deceiving, disap- pointing. زک اٿهانا zak uṭhānā, To be ashamed. زک دينا zak denā, To put to shame.

Inarticulate, slightly uttered (a word, &c.). زيرنگين zer-i-nagīn, adj. Sub- missive, subject. زيروزبر zer-o-zabar, adj. Topsyturvy, inverted, overturned, ruined.

زدني zadan-ī P (from زدن To strike) adj. Fit or deserving to be stricken, killed, &c.

زنبق zambaḳ P s. Name of a flower, the white jasmine, a lily, or an iris.

زلل zalal A s. m. 1. Erring, blundering. 2. Stumbling, falling. 3. Deficiency, loss.

زايد zāʼịd A (part. act. of زيد) adj. Redundant, superfluous, exceeding.

زقوم zaḳḳūm A s. A thorny tree so called.

زمرد zumurrud P s. m. An emerald.

زيست zīst P (from زيستن) s. f. Life, living. زيست کرنا zīst karnā, To live.
