ريه riya A s. m. (See plur. ريات) The lungs. ذات الريه ẕātu-r-riya, s. m. An inflammation of the lungs, the peripneumony.

روزگار roz-gār P s. m. 1. Service. 2. Earning. 3. The world, time, age, fortune. روزگارکرنا rozgār karnā, 1. To serve. 2. To earn.

ريگزار reg-zār P s. m. A sandy region or place.

رد रद rad S s. m. A tooth. رد چهد rad-chhad (रदछद) s. m. The lips.

رابن रावण rāban S or rāvaṇa, n. prop. See راون. (It is said, that Vish̤ṇu, having an in- clination for war, occasioned a Brāhmaṇ to curse his two door-keepers जय and विजय wishing that they might be born on earth three times, returning after each time to their origi- nal forms of porters to the deity. By these means, Vish̤ṇu contrived to be nearly matched on earth, so as to have a good battle. They first appeared as Hiraṇyāksh̤a and Hiraṇya- kashipu; then, as Rāvaṇa and Kumbhakarṇa; and, lastly, as Sisupāl and Dantavaktra; in each of which characters they opposed the deity in different avatārs.

رعيت raʼaﻌiyat A (prop. raʼīﻌyat, from رعي Heb. ) s. f. A subject or the subjects, tenant. (Plur. رعايا). رعيت پرور raʼaﻌiyat-parwar, Protector of subjects. رعيت پروري raʼaﻌiyat- parwar-ī, s. f. Protection of subjects. رعيت نواز raʼaﻌiyat-nawāz, Cherisher of subjects.

ربي rabī रवि S̱. s. m. See رب rabi.

رواسا ro-ās-ā S̱. (see رواس ro-ās) adj. Inclined to cry, vexed, displeased, afflicted.

رهت rahat H (from رهنا) s. Staying, remaining.

رخنه raḵẖna P s. m. A fracture, a hole, a notch, a cleft, perforation, flaw, crevice.
