رياضي riyāẓī A s. m. Mathematicks.

رات rāt रात्रि S̱. s. f. Night. رات تهوڙي اورسانگ بـﮩت rāt thoṛī aur sāng bahut, is applied to express a hurry of business with little time to perform it in; also great expense with a small income. Mīr says:-- بن جو کچهـ بن سکي جواني مين رات تهوڙي هي اوربـﮩت هي سانگ Ban jo kuchh ban sake jawānī meṇ; rāt thoṛī hai aur bahut hai sāng, Acquire whatever you can in the season of youth: the task is arduous and the time short. (Ars longa vita brevis. Hippoc.). آدهي رات ādhī rāt, Midnight. راتون رات rātoṅ rāt, In the middle of the night.

رسم rasm A (from رسم rasama, Heb. He marked or wrote) s. f. 1. Custom. 2. Law. 3. Model, plan. 4. A game among children, the laws of which are, that one puts a question to another, who is obliged to reply in words which do not contain either of the three letters س ر or م which compose the word رسم. If one of these should be found in his answer, he is condemned, by way of penalty, to imitate the voice of any animal which may be directed by the questioner.

راج rāj P. (prop. راز) s. m. A mason, bricklayer.

ربڙانا rabṛānā H (causal of ربڙنا) v. a. To fatigue, to cause to run about uselessly.

رق raḳḳ A (from رقّ Heb. To be thin) s. m. Parchment, vellum.

رسومات rusūmāt A s. f. plur. of رسوم rusūm, q. v.

رکهانا rakhānā S̱. (caus. of رکهنا rakhnā, q. v.) v. a. To give in charge, to cause to keep, put, place. رکها لينا rakhā lenā, To take in charge.

رياض riyāẓ A s. plur. (of روضه rauẓa) Gardens.
