دسترخوان dastar-ḵẖẉān P (properly دستارخوان dastār-ḵẖẉān, q. v.) s. m. A tablecloth.

دري darī P s. f. 1. A small carpet. 2. A dialect of the Persian language, the origin and pecu- liarities of which are variously defined by Persian lexicographers. Some alledge its distinctive mark to be when the form of the word is com- plete, without contraction; as bugo, ishkam, Darī; go and shikam, Pārsī. Others make it the dialect of a certain district, comprehending Balkh, Bukhārā, Badakhshān, Marū-Shāh-Jān, and Bāmiyān. The name is by some said to be derived from dara, a valley among hills; which corresponds with its origin in Badakh- shān and the mountainous part of Kandhār. Others assert that it was spoken at the court of the monarchs of the Kaiānian dynasty, and derive the name from dar a gate or dargāh a

دسا سول disā-sūl S s. m. The quarter towards which it is deemed unlucky to travel on parti- cular days.

دگدگي dugdugī H s. (dakh. i. q. حلق کي نيچي کا گڙها) Pit or hole at the bottom of the throat (?).

ديبدار debdār देवदारु S̱. s. m. The mast tree. (Uvaria longifolia).

دهنا duhnā S̱. (intrans. of دوهنا q. v.) v. n. To be milked.
