دهور dhaur H s. m. A large kind of dove.

ديت diyat A s. f. The law of retaliation, the price of blood, the fine paid for murder, wounding or maiming. (In cases of murder it is ex- acted, when the homicide is committed in any other way than with sword, dagger, &c.).

دينتا dīn-tā S (दीनता) s. f. Poverty, in- digence; humility.

دکپال दिक् Region, and पाल Preserver dikpāl S. s. m. A guardian deity of one of the ten (दिश् dis) regions or points (of the com- pass: i. e. ब्रह्मा Brahmā, for upwards; अनंत Ananta, for downwards; इन्द्र Indra, for east; अग्नि Agni, for southeast; यम Yama, for south; नैर्ऋत Nairr̤ita, for southwest; वरुण Varuṇa, for west; वायु Vāyu or पवन Pa- vana, for northwest; कुवेर Kuvera, for north; ईशान Īsāna or शिव Siva, for northeast).

دهرنا dharnā S̱. (धरण r. धृ Hold, bear) v. a. 1. To place, put down, lay, assume, put on, apply. 2. To give in charge. 3. To seize, catch, lay hold of, hold, keep. دهرنادينا يا بيٿهنا dharnā- denā or -baiṭhnā, A mode of extorting payment of a debt or compliance with any demand. See Asiat. Res. Vol. 4. Art. 22.

دهن dhun S̱. s. f. 1. (ध्यान) Inclination, pro- pensity, application, diligence, perseverance, ardour, ambition, assiduity. 2. (Hind). Pains in the bones. 3. dhun or dhuni (for ध्वनि) Sound, musical sound.

ديواگت dewāgat S (देवागति) s. f. Sudden misfortune, accident.

دوسي dosī H s. m. 1. Thick sour milk. 2. A Musalmān milkman.
