خسرو ḵẖusrau P s. m. 1. Name of a celebrated king (Cyrus or Chosroes). 2. A king in ge- neral. 3. Name of a most famous poet of Dihlī.

خاص ḵẖāṣṣ A (vulg. ḵẖāṣ, from خصّ Heb. To cut, to divide, to appropriate) adj. 1. Ex- cellent, noble, pure, unmixed. 2. Particular, private, what is kept for the kingʼs (or the mas- terʼs) private use, own, proper, peculiar, single, gentle. 3. adv. Especially, peculiarly. خاص بردار ḵẖāṣṣ-bardār, s. m. A servant who, in a great manʼs retinue, carries a firelock. خاص خواص ḵẖāṣṣ-ḵẖaẉāṣṣ, A royal female servant. خاصدان ḵẖāṣṣ-dān, A kind of canteen to carry water-vessels in. خاص محل ḵẖāṣṣ-maḥal, s. m. Private apartment, the apartments of married women (in opposition to ḵẖụrd-maḥal); met. First married wife. خاص وعام ḵẖāṣṣ o āﻌmm, Noble and plebeian.

خرخاوند ḵẖar-ḵẖāwind P s. m. Master, owner, possessor. (Spoken contemptuously).

خرمـﮩره ḵẖar-muhra P s. m. The small shell called kauṛī, used as coin. (Cypræa moneta).

خرمي ḵẖurram-ī P s. f. Cheerfulness, pleasure, delight, gladness, gayety, mirth. P. A. خرنفس ḵẖar-nafs, adj. Magnum penem habens.

خروار ḵẖar-wār P s. An ass-load.

خفقان ḵẖafaḳān A (from خفق) s. m. Palpitation (a disease of the heart, especially).

خرامان ḵẖirāmān P (from خراميدن) part. pres. Walking stately, moving gracefully.

خف ḵẖiff A (from خفّت) adj. Light (of weight or morals), undignified. ¶ ḵẖuff, s. m. A boot.

خواه ḵẖẉāh P 1. part. act. (of خواستن) in compos. Wishing, requiring, soliciting, desiring; as, ترقيخواه taraḳḳī-ḵẖẉāh, Wishing increase. دولتخواه daulat-ḵẖẉāh, Wishing prosperity. 2. conj. Either, or, whether. 3. part. pass. as, خاطرخواه ḵẖāt̤ir-ḵẖẉāh, The desire of oneʼs heart. خواه مخواه ḵẖẉāh ma-ḵẖẉāh or خواه نخواه ḵẖẉāh na-ḵẖẉāh or خواهي نه خواهي ḵẖẉāhī na ḵẖẉāhī, adv. 1. Willing or not willing, nolens volens. 2. Certainly, positively, abso- lutely, at all events.
