چيت chait चैत्र S̱. s. m. The Hindū name of the twelfth month, the full moon of which is near चित्रा chitrā; March-April.

چهپا chhipā H adj. Close, hidden, concealed. چهپا رهنا chhipā rahnā, To abscond. چهپا چهپي chhipā-chhipī, adv. Underhand, secretly.

چرکٿا char-kaṭā S̱. (from चर Forage, and r. कुट or कृत् Cut) s. m. The person who cuts forage for cattle, elephant-keeperʼs mate.

چلـﮩورنا chilhornā H v. a. To peck.

چچرا chachrā H s. m. The name of a tree.

چندر चंद्र chandar S or chandr, s. m. The moon. چندربنسي chandra-bansī, Descendant of the moon; name of a tribe of Ksh̤atriyas who claim descent from the moon. چندرکلا chandra- kalā, A digit or one sixteenth part of the moonʼs diameter. چندربدني chandra-badanī, or چندرمکهي chandra-mukh-ī, Having a counte- nance beautiful as the moon.

چلغوزه chilg̠ẖoza P s. m. A kind of nut like the pistachio, or the kernels of the pine.

چکورنا chikornā H v. a. To peck.

چهانا chhānā छादन S̱. v. a. To thatch, to shade, to cover, to roof, to spread. چها جانا chhā jānā, To spread, to lie. چها لينا chhā lenā, To cloud, overspread, to overcast, darken.

چگانا chugānā H (caus. of چگنا chugnā) v. a. To cause to peck.
