اشٿاشیت अष्टाशीति ash̤ṭāshīti S adj. Eighty eight.

اپنشد उपनिषद् upanish̤ad S s. The theolo- gical part and the vedānta or argumentative part of the Vedas, either detached from, or comprised in, the principal work.

ارهٿ arhaṭ H s. m. An engine for raising water. Same as رهٿ rahaṭ.

ارحم arḥam A adj. compar. (of رحیم) More or most merciful. ارحم الراحمین arḥamu-r-rāḥimīn, The most merciful of the merciful (an attribute of God).

ارمني arman-ī P adj. Armenian.

اونٿنا auṅṭnā H v. n. Same as اوٿنا auṭnā, q. v.

اسپند ispand P s. m. A seed burnt at marriages to drive away evil spirits: it is, also, burnt as a charm for the like purpose some days after a child is born, particularly at the door; and when a child goes out or comes home. It is often mixed on those occasions with mustard seed, and hence has been confounded with the latter (خردل).

اراده irāda A s. m. (inf. iv. of رود) Desire, inclination, wish, pur- pose, design, plan, intention, meaning. اراده کرنا irādā karnā, To form a design, to make an attempt, to design, intend or purpose.

ادرس adris अदृश्य S̱. adj. Invisible, unseen.

اداس उदास udās S s. Retiredness. adj. Re- tired, lonely, forlorn, dejected, sorrowful, sad.
