اهاهاها ahāhāhā S̱. (Sans. अहह) interj. expres- sive of surprise, pain, pleasure, &c. Ah! aha!

افغان afg̠ẖān P 1. s. m. See فغان fig̠ẖān. 2. n. prop. A people, called also Paṭhāns, inha- biting the hilly country to the N. W. of Lāhaur. In their history, they pretend to derive their origin, as well as name, from Afg̠ẖān, whom they account a grandson of Malik Tālūt (king Saul). As to religion, they are Mahometans, notwithstanding the claim they set up to a Jew- ish extraction. (Plur. Arab. افاغنه afāg̠ẖina or Pers. افغانان afg̠ẖānān).

اشراک ishrāk A (inf. iv. of شرکت) s. m. Parti- cipating, entering into partnership.

اهانت ihānat A (inf. iv. of هون) s. f. Contempt, disdain, affront, insult, indignity, enmity. اهانت کرنا ihānat karnā, To contemn.

آچهادن आच्छादान आ and r. छद Cover āchchhādan S. s. m. Cloth, garments.

آواتي āwātī S̱. (from آنا To come, q. v.) s. f. Ap- proach, advance; the coming of an army, the approach of a friend; the season in which mer- chandise is expected.

الوپ alop S̱. adj. 1. (for आ and लोप Cutting off, disappearing) Concealed, defaced, retired, run out, destroyed. 2. (for अ and लोप) Apparent. S̱. H. الوپن ullū-pan, s. m. Stupidity, foolishness.

افشرده afshurda P part. pass. (of افشردن) Pressed, squeezed out, filtered.
