جهوٿها jhūṭhā S̱. (जुष्ट or उच्छिष्ट) adj. 1. Liar, false. 2. (among Hindūs) That which has touched food and is thereby defiled. 3. Offal, refuse, left (food); s. m. Leavings of food. جهوٿاجهاٿا jhūṭā jhāṭā, s. m. Offals, left food. جهوٿهاچاٿنا jhūṭhā chāṭnā, To eat leavings, to be very wretched. جهوٿهي نپوچهنا jhūṭhī na pūchhnā, To refuse even common civility.

جان jānn A s. m. (collect. of جنّ) The race of genii or demons. (Pers. jān).

جولاه jolāh P s. m. A weaver. See جلاه ju- lāh.

جگتا jagtā जाग्रत् S̱. adj. Awake.

جـﮩ‍انيان jahāniyān P s. plur. (of جـﮩ‍اني) People, creatures.

جدا judā P adj. Separate, distinct, away, apart, aside, asunder, absent, different, peculiar, extra- ordinary. جدا جدا judā judā, adj. Various, one by one, severally, separately. جدا جدا کـﮩنا judā judā kahnā, To particularize. جدا کرنا judā karnā, To separate, disjoin, part, disunite, de- tach, disengage, distinguish.

جهول jhol H s. m, 1. Puckering or wrinkling (as, of ill made clothes). 2. A litter, brood, farrow, hatch, a birth.

جک jak यक्ष S̱. s. m. 1. When treasure, &c. is buried, an animal (sometimes a man) is killed and buried with it as a guard. This animal is called jak, and receives orders to allow no one else to take up the treasure, &c. 2. (met.) A miser, called also جک کا گماشته jak kā gu- māshta. H.P. جکڙبند jakaṛ-band, adj. Tight.

جنڐول chanḍol H s. m. 1. (corrupt. of چنڐاول chanḍāwal) The rear-guard. 2. A sort of se- dan. 3. The name of a bird. 4. A plaything consisting of four little earthen pots joined together.

جهيل jhīl H s. f. A lake.
