جلندهر jalandhar S̱. (जलोदर) s. m. The dropsy.

جدشٿر judishṭar S̱. (Sans. युधिष्ठिर yudhish̤ṭhira) n. prop. Name of an ancient sovereign of India, son of Rājā Pānḍu.

جٿا jaṭā S s. f. (जटा) Matted hair. جٿا دهاري जटाधारी jaṭā- dhārī, 1. adj. Whose hair is matted. 2. s. f. The cocks-comb flower, amaranth. (Celosia cristata).

جم jam S (यम) s. m. The regent of worlds below; or death, and judge of departed souls. جم دوت यमदूत jam-dūt, Messenger of Jam or of death. جم ديا jam-diyā (यमदीप) s. m. A candle or illumination sacred to Jam, lighted on the 13th of kārtik, kr̤ishṇ paksh̤, i. e. three days before the dewālī.
