جاٿهـ jāṭh यष्टि S̱. s. m. 1. The axis or roller of an oil or sugar-mill which presses the grain or the canes. 2. A post placed by Hindūs in the centre of a tank to mark its being dedicated to the deity.

جان jan S̱. 1. (ज्ञानी) 1. adj. Wise, intelligent; s. m. A conjuror, an astrologer. 2. (from جاننا) part. Knowing. جان بوجهـ کي jān būjhke, adv. Wilfully, purposely.

جوگا jogā योग्य S̱. adj. Opportune, fit, proper, able, capable, adequate, advisable, apposite, ap- plicable. S. جوگابهياس योगाम्यास (comp. of योग see under جوگ jog, and अभ्यास Practice) jogā- bhyās, s. The life and practice of a Jogī.

جهڙن jhaṛan H (from جهڙنا) s. f. 1. The act of falling off (as, of fruit from the tree). 2. Snuff. 3. verb. n. of جهڙنا jhaṛnā, q. v.

جوتي jūtī H s. f. A shoe. جوتي خور jūtī-ḵẖor, adj. Beaten with slippers; mean, abject. جوتي پيزار jūtī-paizār, s. f. Scuffle. جوتي کاري jūtī- kār-ī, s. f. Act of beating with slippers.

جهرمٿانا jhurmuṭānā H v. n. (dakh. i. q. پژمرده هونا) To be or become withered or faded, &c.

جهرجهرا jhir-jhirā झर्झर S̱. adj. Very thin.

جاه jāh P s. f. Dignity, rank, grandeur. جاه و جلال jāh-o-jalāl, Dignity, grandeur, splendour, magnificence, pomp.

جپي تپي japī tapī S̱. (from जप and तपः) s. m. An adorer. S̱. جت 1. jut (for युत in comp.) Connected with, united with, joined to; as دهرم جت dharm-jut, adj. Virtuous. 2. jut (for ज्योतिः) s. f. Brilliancy, &c. See جوت jot or joti. 3. jat (for जाति) s. f. Manner, fashion, kind. 4. jat (for यति) s. f. A kind of musical rhythm, (generally, sung at the holī). 5. jit (for यत्र) adv. (in Braj) Where.
