جڙت jaṛit S̱. part. Set (with jewels, &c.), stud- ded. See جٿت jaṭit.

جهلکانا jhulkānā S̱. (s. ज्वलका Flame) v. a. To scorch, to singe (as, the small feathers of a pluck- ed fowl).

جس jis यस्य S̱. pron. rel. sing. inflect. (of جو) Whom, what, who, which, that, any one. جس تس jis tis, Whomever, whatever, some or other. جس جس jis jis, Whichever, each of which. جس جگـﮩـ jis jagah, adv. Where, wherever. جس دم jis dam, adv. When, while, whilst. جس طرح jis t̤araḥ, adv. According to, as. جس طرف jis t̤araf, adv. Wherever. جسقدر jis ḳadr, adv. To what degree, as, as much as, whatever, whatsoever. جسکا کهاٴي اسکي داڙان مين دينا jis-kā khāʼe us-ke dāṛān meṅ denā (dakh. allegorically for نمک حرامي کرنا) To practise treachery or to act ungratefully. جس کسي کا jis kisī kā, Of whomever. جس کسيکو jis kisī ko, To whomever.

جهکور jhakor H s. f. Loss, misfortune. اس بي آرامي سي بـﮩت جهکورپاٴي is be-ārāmī se bahut jhakor pāʼī, This illness has reduced him much.

جل jull A s. f. A housing or covering for an ele- phant, bullock, &c.

جسسوي jasaswī S (यशस्वी from यशः) adj. Re- nowned, famous. S̱.A. جسطرح jis-t̤araḥ, What fashion or manner, (in) what manner, as.

جاگا jāgā H 1. s. m. The name of a cast of Hindūs. 2. (dakh.) Place: see جگـﮩـ jagah.

جوگيا jogiyā H s. m. 1. Name of a colour. 2. f. The name of a rāginī or musical mode. 3. A kind of pigeon.

جٿل jaṭal H s. See زٿل zaṭal.

جنانا janānā S̱. v. a. 1. (causal of جننا) To de- liver, to bring to bed. 2. (causal of جاننا) To inform, to remind, to tell, to warn, to point out, to shew, to seem (used but little except in the Braj dialect; جتانا being more commonly adopted in this sense).
