درپيش dar-pesh P adv. In front, before. درپيش هونا dar-pesh honā, To be in front or before, to be in hand, to be on foot, to occur or happen, to be on the carpet or anvil, to be incumbent or neces- sary. درپيش لانا dar-pesh lānā, To adduce.

پس وپيش pas-o-pesh P s. m. Evasion, prevarica- tion, hesitation. پس وپيش کرنا pas-o-pesh karnā, v. a. To prevaricate, boggle, demur, doubt.

Anticipating, being beforehand, surpassing, one who ex- cels; (subst.) deputy, manager or assistant (in office). پيش دستي pesh-dast-ī, s. f. The being or paying beforehand, anticipation, excelling, surpassing, preeminence, excellence, aggression. پيش دستي کرنا pesh-dast-ī karnā, To anticipate, &c. پيش رس pesh-ras, adj. Early (fruit, grain, &c.). پيش رفت pesh-raft, adj. Making im- pression, successful, efficient, effectual (gene- rally applied to words that are attended to).

پيشوا peshwā P s. m. 1. A leader, a guide, fore- man. 2. A title of the Mahārātta minister. پيشوالينا peshwā lenā, To meet and to receive (a friend or visitant).

پيشواز peshwāz P s. f. A gown, a female dress.

پيشواٴي peshwā-ī P s. f. The meeting and conducting a guest or visitor, the duty of chief priest, guidance, supremacy.

پيشور peshaur P. s. m. Name of a city, properly پيشاور pesh-āwar, built by Akbar. The word im- ports "an advanced post," as it is the next town to the Afg̠ẖāns.

پيشوري peshaur-ī P. s. f. 1. A kind of slipper made in Peshaur. 2. A kind of rice.

پيشي pesh-ī P s. f. 1. An advance. 2. Prece dence, superiour rank.

پيشين pesh-īn P adj. Anteriour, ancient, prior, former. s. m. The afternoon.

پيشکار peshkār P s. m. A deputy, agent, assistant, a minister, a manager, foreman.
