احسن aḥsan A adj. compar. (of حسن) More or most beautiful, excellent, preferable, agreeable.

احسنت aḥsant A. adv. Thou hast made excel- lent; bravo! well done!

احشام aḥshām A s. plur. (of حشم) Followers, at- tendants. ¶ iḥshām (inf. iv. of حشم) s. Re- verencing.

بحث baḥs̤ A s. f. Inquiry, discussion, alterca- tion, controversy, debate, dispute, argumenta- tion, argument.

بحثابحثي baḥs̤-ā-baḥs̤-ī A. s. f. Controversy, dis- cussion, argumentation. A.H. بحثنا baḥas̤nā (from بحث) v. a. To argue, dispute, debate, talk. P.A. بحدي ba-hadd-e, To such an extreme; to such a degree.

تحس نحس taḥs naḥs A. adj. Spoilt, broken, dispersed, overthrown, destroyed, unfortunate. (The last part is significant, the first redun- dant).

تحسين taḥsīn A (inf. ii. of حسن) s. f. Approba- tion, applause, acclamation. تحسين تلفظ taḥsīn- i-talaffuz̤, Euphony. تحسين کرنا taḥsīn karnā, To praise, applaud, approve.

تحصيل taḥsīl A (inf. ii. of حصول) s. f. 1. Gain, acquisition, profit, attainment, learning. 2. Col- lection (particularly, of revenues). Pl. تحصيلات taḥṣīlāt, Collections, acquisitions. تحصيل کرنا taḥṣīl karnā, To acquire, to gain, to learn, to collect (revenue, &c.). A.P. تحصيلدار taḥṣīl-dār, s. m. A collector, a tax- gatherer. A.H. تحصيلنا taḥṣīl-nā, v. a. 1. To collect, to ga- ther a tax. 2. To oppress, to afflict. A.P. تحصيل داري taḥṣīl-dār-ī, s. f. Collectorship, tax-gathering.

محسوب maḥsūb A (part. pass. of حسب Heb. ) adj. Computed, numbered, carried to ac- count.

محسود maḥsūd A (part. pass. of حسد Heb. ) adj. Envied.

محسوس maḥsūs A (part. pass. of حسّ) adj. Per- ceived, perceptible, sensible, felt.

محشر maḥshar A (noun of place from حشر Heb. ) s. f. Day of judgment, a place of assem- bly. محشر خرام maḥshar-ḵẖirām, Exciting a commotion like that of the day of judgment by the elegance of her gait.

محشور maḥshūr A part. pass. (of حشر) Assem- bled, raised from the dead.

مستحسن mustaḥsan A (part. pass. X. of حسن Heb. ) adj. Virtuous, approved, laudable, commendable, beautiful.

نحس naḥs A (Heb. and Aram. ) 1. adj. Un- lucky, bad, inauspicious. 2. s. Unlucky planet.
