آب شناس āb-shinās P s. m. The sailor who heaves the lead in sounding.

آتش ناک ātash-nāk P adj. Fiery, hot.

آجانا ā-jānā S̱. (آنا and جانا q. v.) v. n. 1. To come suddenly, befall, happen. 2. To come.

آرادهنا ārādhnā S̱. or arādhnā (आराधन) v. a. 1. To worship, to adore. 2. To accomplish.

آروندهنا ārūndhnā S̱. (आ and r. रुध Impede) v. a. To strangle. कंठ आरुंधन kanṭh- ārūndhan, Strangulation.

آشنا āshnā P s. m. f. An acquaintance, lover, friend. آشنا پرست āshnā-parast, Friendly, at- tentive to friends, sociable. S̱. اشنان स्नान ashnān or snān, s. m. Bathing.

آشنائي āshnā-ī P s. f. Acquaintance, friendship. آشناٴي کرنا āshnā-ī-karnā, v. a. To associate, to be familiar, to unite. آشنائي لگنا āshnā-ī lagnā, v. n. To become intimate, to be united in friendship.

آشنایانه āshnāyāna P adv. In a friendly way, through friendship, like a friend.

آلاپنا ālāpnā S̱. or alāpnā (आलापन see آلاپ ālāp) v. a. To tune the voice, to run over the different notes previous to singing, to catch the proper key, to sing, to time.

آمنا سامنا āmnā sāmnā S̱. (see سامنا) s. m. Con- fronting.

آمڐنا umaḍnā H v. n. To overflow, abound, fall (as tears), gush, swell, increase or be poured out (as a river, clouds, an army, the heart, &c.).

آنا ānā S̱. 1. (आ and अयन A going) v. n. To come, to be, to become; to be practicable or possible: coming. آن پڙنا ān paṛnā, To hap- pen. 2. s. m. The sixteenth part of a rupee.

آنافانا ānaṉ-fa-ānaṉ A adj. Every minute, constantly, incessantly.

آناکاتي ānākānī S̱. (अनाकर्णन from अन् and r. आकर्ण Listen to) s. f. Turning a deaf ear, overlooking, winking at, purposely neglecting.

آنجنا ānjnā S̱. (trans. of انجنا anjnā) v. a. To tinge the eyes with انجن anjan.
