انقطاع inḳit̤āﻌ A (inf. vii. of قطع) s. m. The being cut or broken off; amputation, extinction, disjunction, separation, failure, adjustment.

تقطير taḳt̤īr A (inf. ii. of قطر) s. f. Distilling, drop- ping (particles of urine), strangury.

تقطيع taḳt̤iﻌ A (inf. ii. of قطع) s. f. 1. The cæsura or pause in reading poetry. 2. Scan- ning of verse. 3. Cutting into parts, dissection.

قطامه ḳut̤t̤āma A (from قطم ḳat̤ima, Appetens coitus vel edendæ carnis fuit homo vel brutum) s. f. A strumpet, an adultress, a quean, a baggage.

قطب ḳut̤b A s. m. 1. The iron spindle or axis on which a millstone turns. 2. The polar star, the north pole. قطب جنوبي ḳut̤b-i-janūb-ī,

قطر ḳut̤r A s. m. Diameter. ¶ ḳat̤r, s. Drop- ping (of water), drops. A. G. قطران ḳit̤rān or ḳat̤rān (q. d. obtained by distillation, from قطر or from Gr. kedri/a or ke/drion) s. m. Tar.

قطره ḳat̤ra A s. m. A drop (plur. قطرات). قطره زن ḳat̤ra-zan, or قطره زنان ḳat̤ra-zanān, adj. Drop-striking; cantering, going quick on the road, running hard.

قطع ḳat̤ﻌ A s. f. Shape, form, cut (of a coat, &c.), cutting, section, intersection, breaking off, intercepting or passing (a road, country, &c.). قطع طريق ḳat̤-iﻌ-t̤ārīḳ, Highway-robbery, or the passing a way. قطع راه ḳat̤-iﻌ-rāh, Getting over a journey. قطع کرنا ḳat̤ﻌ karnā, To cut, cut out, cut or break off, carve, to perform or pass (a journey or way). قطع هونا ḳat̤ﻌ honā, To be cut or cut off; to be performed or passed (a journey or way). قطع نظر ḳat̤-iﻌ-naz̤ar, Turning away the eyes, averting the regard or attention (from), leaving off attending to or considering, abstraction.

قطعه ḳit̤ʼaﻌ A s. m. 1. A section, a cutting, a fragment, a division. 2. A strophe. قطعه بند ḳit̤ʼaﻌ-band, adj. A kind of verse, in which the meaning of the first verse of each stanza is com- pleted in the last. ¶ ḳat̤ʼﻌ or ḳut̤ʼaﻌ, A divi- sion, plot, parcel or portion of land, segment, portion; cut, shape.

قطعي ḳat̤ʼīﻌ A 1. adv. Verily. 2. s. f. A tailorʼs measure. 3. adj. Decisive, conclusive.

قطمير ḳit̤mīr A s. m. 1. The thin pellicle on a date stone. 2. Name of the dog which ac- companied the seven sleepers. نقيروقطمير na- ḳīr o ḳit̤mīr, adv. Minutely, exactly, to the point.

مقط miḳat̤t̤ A (noun of instrum. of قطّ Chald. ) s. m. A piece of bone or bamboo on which they nib their writing-reeds or pens.
