ابوالفضل abu-l-faẓl A (father of excellence) n. prop. The secretary of the Emperor Akbar.

ضلع ẓilﻌ A (Heb. ) s. m. 1. A side, part. 2. A district, a division. 3. A column (in the page of a book). 4. (in Hindūstān) The art of speaking with double meaning, so that the chain of both senses be uninterrupted through the dis- course. (This is called in Persian and Arabic تلازم کلام).

فضلا fuẓalā A s. plur. (of فاضل) The excellent, the learned.

فضله fuẓla A or prop. faẓla, s. m. 1. Remainder, redundance. 2. Leaving, refuse, offal.
